This book is another installment in the Mystic Saga. Based on the content and style it can stand alone in on it's own merit.3 alien minds are place in a cybernetic body that is sent to earth to judge the continued existence of humanity. The three minds consist of 2 males and one female and present interesting internal dialogue when they interact with humans and between themselves. The story takes place shortly after World War II with a blend of some historical and science fiction elements. The author makes a brief nod to Roswell, New Mexico. Presented is a good blend between the technological and emotional aspects of the main character(s). Emphasis is placed on the interaction of the 3 minds and the humans that they meet.
There are some typo's in the kindle version. But they aren't frequent or distract from the story. The author seems to have knack for emotional substance while devoloping the story. You can read this novel by itself, and wouldn't be surprised if this one turns out to start a new set of novels.

Wonderful series I enjoyed thoroughly, would recommend to anyone who enjoys sci fi genre
Easily one of the funnest reads I've read so far. The book is a big change of pace for the story, but it a good thing, I promise. This instalment features new characters that until later in the book, seem to have nothing to do with the major story arch. Again, it is realized soon after it begins that it has a lot to do with it. While the action is limited to mostly humorous dialogue and character development, the author does a very good job capturing the characters and drags you along for the ride.
Well written, fun to read, and neat characters that help us grasp the larger plot, with the ever present and unexpected plot twists that I have come to "expect" from the author.
Only reason I do not rate it 5 stars is because I reserve it for very rare occasions. I would have rated it a 4.75 out of 5. REALLY wish would let us rate a 1-10 rating to give a more exact system. Can't wait for the next book!
I think this is the first installment of the "Mystic" series by this author. I love the books; they do science fiction so much good. I wish that the books were all released in chapters of a large all-encompassing book, but I guess it's good to give your brain some process time after reading this brain-twister.
Great story, and great series. My only complaint is that McElhaney is slowly gravitating away from adult sci-fi and drifting into what I would consider to be YA sci-fi. I don't fault him for it, it just is becoming less and less my style of book.
I have read all the books available so far and what can I say... I love them all. I started reading the series last night and to be honest I could not stop after. Started reading at 900 in the evening and before I knew it it was 200 in the morning and I was wondering how time had preceeded so swiftly. Just finished the last book today reading bits here and there as time allowed. CAN'T WAIT FOR MORE!!!!!!!! Keep the great story flowing. The entire story has many characters that end up being linked in unique and suprising ways. Just when you think you know whats gonna happen next here comesthe curve ball. YEAAAAAA!!!!!!
I didn't care quite as much for this book as I did the first 3. I felt there was too much dialogue between the 3 judges and too much lovely dovey talk between the characters. The parts that were written well, I liked a lot. You have to read it through though, if you want to keep with the flow. I'm looking forward to reading through the entire series. It is different and interesting how he ties in historical events! Dave
I bought the first three as a single volume. They were well written and had an intriguing story, even if it did bounce around a bit. Got this book, and damn now it is all coming together, even if I was a bit slow to catch on. This series is about to take off, and I can't wait for the next chapter in what I think will be a good addition to my relaxing time reading. I recommend this series to anyone who needs to take a break from our own hectic lives, and just wants to be entertained by something other than a television. No not only entertained, it makes you think "what if".
