Hades A Demonica Underworld Novella 1001 Dark Nights edition by Larissa Ione Paranormal Romance eBooks
I loved Hades and Cat's story. Each book in this series just gets better and better. Hades finally atones to the Grim reaper for forgiveness by apologizing for killing his son while at the same time begging for a new life with the women he loves. Hades character is not just sexy, his humor will have you busting out loud in the end. I laughed out loud til my ribs hurt from laughing so hard when the Grim Reaper asked what happened to one of his statues. I don't want to type up a spoiler - but let's just say Hades glued a statue back together that Cat had broke - the way he glued it back together had me ROTFLMMFAO. I'm still laughing at the vision I got.Cat atones for her mistakes by trying to fix everything while still messing things up. But her curiosity of desire for Hades turns into more than she ever imagined - so much so that she realizes Hades spoke the truth when he said Home was where people wanted her - Hades wanted her. Her character is cute, sexy, and full of humorous curiosity.
The writing is very visual and the scenes always take you further into the Demonica world. The humor in the book makes you laugh out loud while feeling all giddy over the happy ever after ending. I didn't want the story to end.
Excellent Read.

Hades A Demonica Underworld Novella 1001 Dark Nights edition by Larissa Ione Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
Larissa Ione's Demonica series is an epic, all-encompassing collection of books that focus on the trials and tribulations of an angel/demon-infused world. I have been a fan of the series for years and, therefore, have high expectations of every new installment. Besides the fantastic worldbuilding and snarky one-liners, one of my favorite aspects of the series is the author's ability to take "villains" and redeem them without making me them seem like different characters. She does that once again with Hades and provides fans (and newbies) with a sensual and violent romance between two fallen angels.
Hades is the jailer of this world's Hell (known as Sheoul). His basic job is to keep order among the demons and humans that are sent there by his boss, Azagoth aka the Grim Reaper. Hades is as mean as one would expect from someone who has spent centuries dealing with the dregs of this world. But, he does have a few soft spots and one of them is the fallen angel, Cataclysm, who works in Azagoth's home after almost bringing about the Apocalypse.
I adored both of these characters. Hades is very much a bad boy yet he has some vulnerabilities that made me want to give him a hug. He very much deserved to be punished in his early angel days, but I felt for how such treatment has effected him after so much time. Cat starts out as a bit of Mary Sue until I learned more about her particular angelic powers and the reason why she got caught up with one of the Big Bads of the series. While she may be fallen, she still has the desire to get her wings back and does everything she can to make things right.
While I really enjoyed both main characters and thought they were a good match, I did feel like things moved too fast for me to really believe in their happy ending. I think this particular story would have been better served by a full-length novel so that the author could have really explored Hades's moral conundrums and Cat's internal dilemmas. But, I did think Hades was an enjoyable read that helped me get my Demonica fix until the next story.

Is it possible to make the Lord of the Dead likable? One wouldn't think so, he's a bit cocky and a whole lot of mean. His job is to torture and punish and he reports directly to Azagoth, The Grim Reaper. We've seen bits of him through out the Demonica Series and never has she come across as a likable character, but you know what Larissa was able to take this unlikely hero and make him on of my favorites of the series.
Cataclysm AKA Cat, was cast from Heaven after finding herself unknowingly in the middle of a plot to kick of the Apocolypse. As an Unfallen Cat's fearful of spending her time penitence on earth where she is in danger of being dragged into Sheoul where she would become a True Fallen. Instead she takes on a position in Azagoth's realm of Sheoul-gra determined to do the near impossible and earn her way back into heaven. There is only one problem, she is a horrible house keeper, continually mucking up her menial jobs and earning the ire of Azagoth. She also manages to make an ally in Azagoth's mate, Lilliana and catches the eye of a True Fallen guy with a blue mohawk and body made for well....sin. As if life as a bumbling Unfallen with a serious crush on the Lord of the Dead wasn't bad enough Cat manages to send the entire Underworld into a tailspin when she accidentally opens the portal to Sheoul's Inner Sanctum.
I loved this book and have to say it is probably one of my favorites in this series in a long time. There is just something about the tortured soul of Hades and a naive angel coming together to save the Underworld and in the end each other. One of my favorite parts comes toward the end of the story where we learn why Azagoth and Hades have the relationship that they do and how they fix it. I love the simplicity and the meaningfulness behind the act of contrition that occurs. It's a good reminder that mending a relationship or someone's pain doesn't have to be difficult it just takes letting go of your pride and stubbornness.
As with all the Demonica books this one is full of wit and snark, it has moments where you want to break down and cry for the characters or at times beat sense into them. And because I love these two characters so much the only thing bad I can really say is that I wish it had been a full length novel instead of a novella. Larissa does a great job fitting their entire story into this quick read, you won't walk away feeling cheated or as if things ended suddenly like I find happens often with novellas, but like me you might finish wishing that you just had a little more time with them because they are such a great couple.
You all know my typical spiel when it comes to series books and I will mention it here with this one. Do you have to have read all 11 books in the series prior to this one, no, but will it help you get the entire picture yes. That said out of all the Demonica books I think this one is most like a standalone so if you haven't read the rest of the series do not let that stop you from picking up this wonderful story. When you are done though be ready with your one click finger because I think you will be wanting the rest of the books.
This is a great story for Paranormal Romance Fans. It is only about 100 pages so it is a super quick read and it is well worth your time!
